San Antonio's Modern Mexican restaurant

A good friend of mine has been reiterating how enjoying it is to dine at San Antonio's Modern Mexican restaurant.  I finally took his advice and boy was I mad at my self for not going in earlier!  Let me say that the friendly interaction with the staff initially gave me a sense that this location prides itself in customer service.  The cool spacious decor in this swank eatery also brings to the very soulful latin vibe that resonates through out the building.  My favorite area has to be the kitchen with it's open space frame work.  It allows you to see the cleanliness and also the hard work put into to every meal.  I can go on talking about how San Antonio's Modern Mexican restaurant is just a great place to hang out.  Did I also mention that Thursday's Salsa night heats up the joint at 10 pm.  $1 margaritas every night as well will definitely have you feeling awesome on top of the great scene!

Now on to the meal for this post.  After talking to the bar tender and getting his suggestions, which by the way his knowledge of the menu was extensive, I came down to one choice.  The Tequila Chicken was a heavenly meal that just jumped around in my mouth with great flavors!  The blackened breast of chicken broiled and topped with large shrimp with the most exhilarating made from scratch queso cheese, baked in a picante craw fish sauce.  The blending of flavors was phenomenal with the queso and picante craw fish sauce giving a slightly spicy melted blend with the succulent shrimp and chicken rounding out an amazing dish.  The arrangement on the dish was marvelous and the aroma flying from the plate was mesmerizing!  The way the cheese melted a top of the chicken shrimp locked in flavors that carried all the way through to the last bite!  The chicken was so juicy that my initial slice squirted a flavorful stream right into my very tasty Spanish rice.  Now this meal brought me a salad as well.  The crisp lettuce and spinach leaves topped with slices of onions and bacon bits was brilliant with the dressing that accompanied the salad.  Now I always try to find low fat dressings with taste because low fat doesn't normally correspond with great taste.  Joel my bartender suggested a Jabanero Mango Vinegrette was the perfect blend of good for you and good taste.  The spicy/sweet mixture had a very distinctive taste that allowed me to dig into my veggies without hesitation!

The Tequila Chicken dinner is a must eat at San Antonio's Modern Mexican restaurant.  Couple that great meal with the dollar margarita's and I had a blast!  Throw in salsa night on Thursday's and you can obviously tell that I am a big fan.  Two thumbs up for this great dish and a roaring standing ovation for San Antonio's Modern Mexican restaurant.

Check out the pics of this great meal below and a pic of the open kitchen format.  Stop by San Antonio's Modern Mexican restaurant located in South Park Mall next to Dick's Sporting Goods.  You will not be disappointed!

First and foremost shout out to a Son of Charlotte Maurice Boyton aka Mo!  You making the QC fam proud killing it up there at Berklee School of Music in Boston.  A prestigious school and being a member is an honor within itself.  Yet Mo don't stop lol!  The musical talents within this community has brought together a little known eclectic group the Kinki Ski Monkey and there fusion of energy has turned out a very unique sound.  I was up mad late when Mo shot me over this video of them performing live there Punjabi Rap and I was so geeked!  From the arrangement to the fusing of different genres created a sound that was to cool for school!  Even if the school is Berklee!  I am always weary of those that mix in live bands with DJing equipment.  It could go either way but these fellas have got something going right now.  A medley of drums, guitars, basses, horns, turntables and is that a Sitar I see there!  Crazy how the blend works out in this video and the style these members of Kinki Ski Monkey put together is stupid.  It was an instant subscribe for me on You Tube, hands down good music.  Google them, You Tube them, if you are in Boston go see them, and just get down with this new funky sound.  Can't wait to hear more and ya'll should go check out this video!

What up everyone!  Latest news in the art realm of Charlotte is that Joe Dobson III's artwork is up at the Vapor Lounge.  Vapor Lounge is located on 5th St and N Tryon.  I ate there as well and the food is good.  I had this banging Turkey melt and Chicken Basil soup to go along with Saratoga chips.  It is a wonderful, hip, and swank location that is open 24 hours and serves food whenever.  So go down there and check out the goods on Vapor Lounge.  It's 2 levels and has a great back patio.  The place is spectacular and plus Joe Dobson III's artwork will occupy you all on it's own.  I dropped some photos of the artwork, a pic of the good meal I had, and the bottom levels view so you guys can see the space and arrangement.  Any poets or live performers will love the bottom levels Speak Easy feel!  Hey check out the pics and then go check it out live.  You won't be disappointed!

A cool cat that has been building his talents even before I met him.  Joe Dobson III an artist with an abstract eye has a showing this weekend at the Grand Opening of Vapor Lounge located on the corner of 5th St. and N. Tryon St.  Doors open at 5pm and the drink specials will be going down.  $3 dollar selected imports, and plenty of $5 dollar drinks!  There is a featured group to this event as well!  The Tsunami Wave Riders the 2009 "Best World Music Artists" will be in the building providing easy laid back island sounds to let your mind wander on great artworks that are laced along the walls.  Joe Dobson III is the solo artist being presented.  Joe's vision of abstract, colorful, and unique designs gives a surreal look to the mix media style blend that he provides with every splash of color against the canvass.  Joe Dobson III has varied types of artwork to display that are rooted in street art design from spray paint collections and plenty more.  You will be able to see an up and coming local artist putting effort and passion to each of his pieces.  Don't take my word for it check the pic of one of his designs down below and I look forward to seeing everyone out on April 1st at Vapor Lounge to support Joe Dobson III and his wonderfully eclectic art style.
